What is coaching and is it right for me?

Great place to start! Coaching can cover a range of interests and niches, including career or executive coaching, couples coaching, self-love coaching and more! Life coaches help people identify and articulate their future vision and goals, and then create an action-driven plan to achieve those goals. If you are feeling stuck, unmotivated, hopelsss or uninspired, or, conversely, if you are feeling like you're ready to tap into your full potential and push the boundaries of your existence, then coaching might be the right path for you.

What's the difference between a coach and a therapist?

Another great question to consider. People typically seek out support from a therapist or life coach when they're ready to make changes in their lives. However, there are a few differences between therapists and life coaches, and depending on where you are starting from and what you're hoping to achieve, these differences can be crucial. Therapists typically explore past events and influences to understand your present behaviors; where have you been? A therapist is qualified to diagnose and treat mental illnesses and usually work with clients to achieve and maintain a baseline of mental health. Coaches tend to focus on the future; where are you going and how are you getting there? Most people choose to work with a coach when they feel they have achieved that baseline level of mental health and want to continue working down the well-being continuum. That's not to say that coaches don't work with people who are experiencing mental illnesses or disorders - in fact, many can and do! There are many, many more differences in approach, training and background and more, and it's certainly worth spending some time researching to determine what's the best path for where you are at right now.

Are you anti-therapy?

Absolutely not! We are pro ALL mental health professionals and celebrate the very important work they do to ensure every human being has the ability to live to their truest and highest potential. We actually see coaching and therapy as different but complementary disciplines working toward the same end-goal of achieving well-being. Our platform highlights coaching because it celebrates strengths and manifests self-esteem through action and "being" oriented experiences. Coaching isn't therapy, but it is therapeutic in many ways. While coaching doesn't take away from the very good work that therapists do, if you're currently working with a therapist, it's a good idea to check in with them first before you engage a life coach.
